VidCutter is an open-source cross-platform video editor with which you can quickly trim and join video clips. It is Python and Qt5-based, uses FFmpeg for its encoding and decoding operations, and it supports all the popular video formats not excluding FLV, MP4, AVI, and MOV.

  1. Had to delve into the settings and make some tries, but it really does what I was looking for, cut a short clip from a video and it did it fairly quickly.

  2. Quickly? Are you joking? This app is so slow that you think it is frozen. It takes about 20 minutes to cut a 2 minute clip from a 750MB file…and it ties up the entire CPU doing it.

  3. Very hard to use. Hard to navigate to the place you want to cut – needs to learn that pause means pause. Cannot find any user docs or help …. keyboard shortcuts don’t seem to work.

    Exactly what I want – if it worked.
