Canonical’s Ubuntu Touch is still in its infancy given that it was only introduced officially as a product two years ago but that hasn’t stopped the platform from garnering attention in the tech industry, especially among Linux enthusiasts.
So far, the company has four devices running it’s Ubuntu Touch mobile operating system out of the box. Two of which are from the Europe-based manufacturer called Bq and two others from the China-based OEM called Meizu.
There are also some others including the Nexus 4, Nexus 7 which are also supported officially….you can head here to have a look at the long list devices.
The Bq Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition was the first Ubuntu Touch powered device followed by the Meizu MX4 and then just a month later; Bq released its second smartphone in 2015 tagged Aquaris E5 Ubuntu Edition.
This followed up with the company’s Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition and Meizu Pro 5 in February the year.
The Bq Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition has been up for grabbing for a while now on their official online store and we’ve recently also learned of the Meizu Pro 5’s availability on JD.com or alternatively JD.ru for an asking price of $369.99 which is quite on the high side but includes free shipping via DHL with an expected arrival of a week to 10days anywhere in the world.
The spec sheet of the Meizu Pro 5 includes a 5.7-inch FHD display at 387 PPI protected by a 2.5D Corning Gorilla 3 ARC glass, a Samsung 7480 Exynos SoC, A 21MP sensor capable of PDAF (phase detection autofocus) on the rear and USB Type C among others you can find on the product page.
